Tabletop Throwdown: Do we exercise documents or people?
A comment recently made by the Head of Business Continuity at a banking institution:
"I agree the benefit we are looking for from a tabletop test is to test folks knowledge and allow them to talk out what they would do in a crisis event along with all teams impacted. Then afterwards ensure documented playbooks and processes align to reality. If we pull up a playbook and allow folks to use that, it will not identify inaccurate steps that may be written down or allow for the great dialogue that typically happens between teams as they are working through a solution."
