Many organizations have used the all-hazards approach to their risk tolerance for years. However, with the continued rise of cyber attacks and ransomware, a one-size-fits-all solution still works for businesses. Many times, if there has been a cyber security breach, the recovery takes longer than if it is a failed piece of infrastructure that has to be replaced. Businesses need to be aware of the full impact and whether we should continue to commit ourselves to RTO, which can only be met for specific scenarios. This presentation looks at how the conversation should be approached to ensure we provide accurate information to offer better-informed decisions around RTO and RPOs in the organizations based on reality verses fiction.
